Veteran Nollywood actor,
Prince Jide Kosoko, born to the Kosoko royal family of Lagos Island is one of
the few Nigerians who have been able to participate both in Yoruba and English
films. He has worked with prominent entertainment stars in the industry.
There
is no doubt that he is an authority in the film industry and a role model to
many actresses and actors. However, it’s indeed a season of mixed feelings for
the actor.
A month after he had gotten
congratulatory messages on the birth of a new granddaughter from his firstborn,
Sola, he also has cause to jubilate as another grandson from his younger
daughter cum actor, Bidemi has been born. Sola, who is also an actor, had given
birth in April 13, 2019 after a five-year wait. Married to Waheed Abina, the
couple, who got married in 2012, welcomed their second child after their first,
who is a 5-year-old girl called Oluwasindara.
Meanwhile, Bidemi, had
given birth in the last week of May 2019. Jide Kosoko, the new granddad was so
happy and took to his Instagram page to celebrate the births. The family, who
would have remembered the death of one of their matriarchs, Henrietta Kosoko,
who was also an actress on June 6, had reason to rejoice. Her widower wrote,
“Continue to rest in peace dear,we are managing to be okay here.”
Also remembering the late
actress, Bidemi wrote, “It’s 3 years already hmmmm continue to rest on iya nbe
like I fondly call you, we fight a lot, disagree all the time yet we were the
closest. You are highly missed omo odudukudu . themaineltee kdp3ng
ademuyiwakosoko mztemilade_kosoko mama lives o.”
Henrietta Kosoko was one of
the most famous Yoruba actresses and was known by everyone in Nigeria and
abroad. Despite having had a blooming acting career, late Henrietta had always
been very happy in her marriage with Jide Kosoko. They had met for the first
time and fell in love with each other during her movie premiere in Mushin,
Lagos.
She had been previously
married and separated before she met him. Although Henrietta was her husband’s
second wife, she did not think too much about the polygamy problem in their
family. In many interviews, she mentioned that her husband had a huge impact on
her acting career. She said that before marrying him, she did not treat acting
and being an actress as a serious profession.
She also never denied her
great fame came exactly when she got married to her husband. She had said,
“influenced me into acting. Though, I was acting before I met my husband,
acting as a profession has different levels. At that time, I did not take
acting as a full-time profession because I trained as a caterer. But I must
tell you that I achieved fame when I married my husband. My husband is from
Somolu Local Government Area of Lagos State, while I’m from Mushin Local Government
Area. I started acting from there. Nothing has changed since then.”
The actress also had four
children, two of them from her previous marriage. Henrietta admitted that being
a mother is a harder job for her than being an actress. It was even harder
since her husband had a second wife and her children had to deal with that fact
and try to build proper communication. Despite this fact, the family stayed
very friendly, loving and peaceful at all times. Her four children are now
grown up and have a lot to show this world.
Unfortunately, the actress
also had some health issues as she battled with diabetes for quite a long time.
On June 6, 2016 she slumped at her home and died shortly after. She is sorely
missed by her family, friends and fans, but her memory lives on in their hearts
and in her movies.
It's the best tіme to make sоme plans for the future and it is time to be happy.
