Anthony Joshua visits Nigeria

Anthony Joshua was spotted at Lagos airport as he pays a visit to Nigeria after many years away from his ancestral home. The former IBF, WBA, WBO heavyweight champion touched down at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, on Thursday, July 11.
Joshua's sister, Janet then took to her Instagram account to appreciate the home coming of her beloved brother. "Welcome home my dear brother." she adds a love emoji and a Nigeria flag. "May the lord almighty uphold you. Strengthen you and be with you. "Back to the mother land. The soil of our foundation.#JoshuaGeneration."

The 28-year-old who lost all three belts to Mexican-born American underdog, Andy Ruiz in June, is yet to announce his rematch date but the fight is expected to happen in November later in the year. Joshua's perfect 22-match unbeaten record was dented by Ruiz who knocked him down a couple of times before the referee stopped the fight in round seven. The Nigerian-born British boxer has promised to come back stronger in the rematch after activating the clause in their contract.

Legit.ng had earlier reported that Anthony Oluwafemi Joshua, a British-Nigerian professional boxer, has melted the hearts of many Nigerians in a cute video recently released on social media. The boxer was seen trying hard to recite the Nigerian national anthem. The 29-year-old boxer, who was born and raised in the United Kingdom, is known for always trying to connect to his Nigerian roots.
