A young woman whose body
was found dismembered in 14 pieces had been killed during "rough sex"
after a Tinder date, a court heard.
The parents of Sydney
Loofe, 24, became worried when she vanished after her date with 52-year-old
Aubrey Trail.
Trail and his girlfriend
Bailey Boswell, 25, were charged with murder and, during the former's trial
this week, it emerged Loofe's body showed signs she had struggled prior to her
death.
Dr Michelle Elieff, a
forensic pathologist, said she found Loofe's earlobe was torn and she had
bruising on her wrists, the back of her head and on her inner thighs.
But the defence lawyer
argued these injuries resulted from "rough, consensual sex".
The attorney said Loofe
agreed to participate with Trail in a "sexual asphyxiation" as part
of a fantasy that would be filmed. Loofe needed money at the time and she
agreed to participate in exchange for payment, the defence council said.
The court heard Loofe met
Boswell on Tinder before going on a date on November 14, 2017 and planning a
second one for the following night.
The cashier, of Nebraska,
posted on Snapchat with the caption "Ready for my date" the next day
but wasn't seen alive since.
And the prosecution say
it's evidence Trail and Boswell planned Loofe's killing.
Three women have testified
at the trial.
They said they were all
recruited via Boswell's Tinder account between July and November, 2017.
They described how Trail
made them call him "daddy" and how they engaged in group sex with
him, Boswell and other women.
One woman said Trail and
Boswell had a killing bag - which they called "Bailey's killing bag"
- that included a sauna suit, hammer and pliers.
She also alleged the man
spoke frequently about witches and vampires.
The court also heard Trail
has suffered a stroke and two heart attacks since his arrest.
But he could face the death
penalty if convicted.
