Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi has paid the funeral bills of FOUYE students who died during a clash with policemen.
The students who were protesting against the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) over blackout in the area, were shot by policemen attached to the convoy of the First Lady of Ekiti State.
Two undergraduates died instantly while many were left injured in the process.
Speaking with journalists, Chief Security Officer to the Governor, Ajayi Adeyanju, revealed that Fayemi has taken care of bills for the funeral of the victims and also bills for those recuperating.
“The multiple investigations into the incident are aimed at identifying those responsible for the degeneration of the protest and ensure justice for the dead students,” he said.
“The report of the investigations is expected to be presented to the state government by the end of September.
“We have taken care of the bills of those receiving treatments and those already buried. We are looking at all sides and justice will be done to all sides in this matter.”
