However, many
believe the Vice President has been missing in action since the first phase of
lockdown in the country, following the outbreak of coronavirus.
Veteran
Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has raised a question over the
whereabouts of the Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo.
Omotola
raised the question after a Twitter user stated that Osinbajo’s whereabout is
causing a fuss in his hometown.
“I have been
wondering, Where is our Vice president? This matter is raising dust in my home
town,” A Twitter user wrote.
Reacting to
the statement, Omotola wrote: “Where is our Vice President?”
Some stated
that the Vice President is now at his hometown, resting and waiting for normal
activities to return.
However, no
matter the questions raised and answers concocted by social media bloggers, the
certain thing is that Yemi Osinbajo has been working and ensuring the
governance of Nigeria keeps running despite the limitations of coronavirus.
Below are
some of the activities the Vice President recently executed:
VP Osinbajo
on May 28 chaired the Economic Sustainability Committee (ESC) where he
interacted extensively with State Governors on forthcoming Economic
Sustainability Plan.
However, the
final report of the committee will be sent to his boss, President Muhamadu
Buhari, soon.
Osinbajo also
inaugurated the Steering Committee of the Clean Nigeria Campaign.
The campaign
was put together by the Hon. Minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu
FNSE, FAEng.
On May 22nd,
Osinbajo chaired the first virtual National Economic Council meeting.
At the
meeting, members resolved to ensure better synergy between the Federal
Government and the sub-nationals.
On May 19, he
presided over the National Council of Privatization.
At the
meeting, comprehensive healthcare reforms & issues in the power sector were
discussed.
The Council,
however, approved the preparation of a draft legislative instrument to enact
the Health Sector Bill and associated legislation.
On May 14,
Osinbanjo launched the establishment of the Nigeria Solidarity Support Fund
which is a creative, forward-looking, and thoughtful response to what is
perhaps the most profound global and domestic challenge to health and the
economy in human history.
However, If
anyone is still worried about Osinbajo’s whereabout, worry no more. The Vice
President is working and busy doing things he needs to do.
