Klitschko said on social media that there were explosions in the Darnytsky district on the outskirts of the city.
According
to report, Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, has urged residents who have
evacuated from the capital not to return just yet after the city "came
under fire" on Saturday morning.
One person
has died and several more were injured in the attacks, he said.
"I
ask you to refrain from this and stay in safer places," he added.
His
comments come after Russian forces resumed attacks on Kyiv and beyond after
warning on Friday that it would intensify long-range strikes in retaliation for
unspecified acts of "sabotage" and "terrorism", hours after
it confirmed the sinking of its Black Sea flagship, the Moskva.
Russian
forces have renewed their attacks on Kyiv today with Vitali Klitschko, the
mayor of Kyiv, urging residents who have evacuated from the capital not to
return just yet after the city "came under fire" on Saturday morning.
Ukraine's
presidential office says Russian missile strikes and shelling over the past 24
hours occurred in eight regions: Donetsk, Luhansk and Kharkiv in the east,
Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava and Kirovohrad in the central Ukraine and Mykolaiv and
Kherson in the south.
The strikes
underlined that the whole country remained under threat despite Russia's pivot
toward mounting a new offensive in the east.
