
The village head of Fugge community in Rijau local government area of Niger state, Mallam Abdullahi Zaure, and 49 others, have been abducted by terrorists.
The
incident happened on Friday afternoon May 12, and it was gathered that the
terrorists rode into the community on motorcycles. The abductees were more of
women and children with few males. Many cattle were also rustled.
The Nation
reported that fighter jets descended on the terrorists when they were moving with
the abductees which resulted in the death of several of the bandits and rustled
cattle.
Some of
the residents claimed to have seen some bodies of the terrorists and corpses of
cows killed or injured by the airstrike. It is also speculated that the terrorists
have gone into their den which is located in the forest bordering Niger State
and Kebbi State.
They've
also begun contacting the families of the abductees demanding fuel and
motorcycles as ransom for their release.
