Rihanna has been given a
temporary restraining order against a man who broke into her neighbour's house
thinking it was the singer's home.
The star fears for her safety
after the incident and has suffered "substantial emotional distress",
say court papers filed in Los Angeles by her lawyers.
Steveland Barrow, 31, was
arrested last week having removed items from the house and slept in a bed he
thought belonged to Rihanna.
The man, who has no connection to
the singer, told police he had been invited to Rihanna's house and that he had
some poetry he wanted to give her.
He must now stay 100 yards from
the star until March 21, when the order could be extended.
The application for the restraining
order reads: "(Rihanna) fears for her safety if he is not restrained. His
conduct proves he will go to great lengths to come into contact with (her) and
has no regard for her privacy.
"Since Mr Barrow has already
been released from custody and knows (her) whereabouts, an immediate
restraining order is necessary to prevent further attempted contact."
The court papers use Rihanna's
birth name, Robyn Rihanna Fenty.
The singer had another security
scare in December after a different man was spotted trespassing in the grounds
of the star's Barbados villa.
