Lady Gaga has been on a 200-date world tour for two years
International pop star Lady Gaga has postponed a handful of concerts because of
a debilitating joint inflammation condition that has left her unable to walk.
The singer said she would delay shows on the North
American leg of her world tour due to a case of synovitis that has left her
unable to walk.
Synovitis is a type of severe inflammation that can
follow a sprain or other joint injury.
"I am completely devastated and heartsick. I've
been hiding this injury and pain from my staff for a month, praying it would
heal, but after last night's performance, I could not walk," she said in a
statement.
Gaga, 26, posted a similar message to the 34 million
"little monsters" that follow her on Twitter.
"I will hopefully heal as soon as possible and be
at 500% again, which is what you deserve," she said.
The Poker
Face singer postponed shows in Chicago last Wednesday and Thursday, in Detroit
on Saturday and in Hamilton, Ontario, on Sunday.
Lady Gaga
has been on the road for two years on her Born This Way Ball world tour, which
is scheduled to extend at least through March.
The
200-plus date tour has taken the singer to six continents and was ranked as the
sixth top-grossing tour of 2012 by Billboard magazine.
