Lohan, 26, and Sheen, 47, seemingly have a lot in common as they appeared together - playing themselves - in Scary Movie 5.
LiLo and Sheen have also both had
their personal problems exposed on a grand scale.
Lohan was repeatedly in the news
due to her numerous run-ins with the law, while Sheen did the same following
his attack on Two And A Half Men creator Chuck Lorre and subsequent
"meltdown".Lohan was in court in Janaury, but was able to send her lawyer last weekBut according to gossip website TMZ, while the Mean Girls star admits her life is out of control she does not believe in the maxim "it takes one to know one".
It quoted a source close to the
actress as saying: "While she appreciates everything Sheen has done for
her - and he's done a lot - she would never take him as a mentor."
TMZ pointed out that Sheen had
given her around $100,000 (£67,000) to pay a tax bill and had offered her
support during the making of Scary Movie 5, which is due out in April.
However, while she keeps in touch
with the Platoon and Wall Street star, she apparently objects to him talking to
the media about her.
Lohan's life remains rocky as her
last movie, the made-for-TV Liz & Dick, was condemned by the critics.
And last week a judge refused to
drop two of the three criminal charges facing her, meaning the troubled star's
trial will go ahead in Los Angeles on March 18.
Lohan, who who has been living in
New York since last summer, did not appear at her latest court hearing, leaving
her lawyer Mark Heller to address the judge.
Lohan was charged in November
with obstructing a police officer, giving false testimony and driving
recklessly, after an accident in which a Porsche hit a truck on the Pacific
Coast Highway in June.
If she is found guilty, she could
be sent back to prison for up to a year.
At the time of the crash she was
already on probation for a shoplifting conviction for stealing a necklace from
a jeweller's in 2011.
