America EX-President George Bush and wife Laura welcome their first grandchild

George W Bush and his wife Laura are now proud grandparents of a little girl. One of their twin daughters, Jenna Bush Hager, 32, gave birth in New York on Saturday evening. The new arrival, named Margaret Laura Hager, was affectionately called "Mila" in Twitter pictures posted online.

Jenna collaborates with NBC's flagship morning show Today and her colleagues shared touching pictures of the ever-growing Bush clan on their Twitter feed.

They congratulated the new mum before sharing a snap of the former President cradling his first grandchild as his wife looks on proudly.

"The proud grandparents! Great picture of President and Mrs. Bush with their first grandchild, Mila," the caption read.

 

There was no sign of Mr Bush's other daughter, named Barbara, in the family snaps.

It's a new era for George Bush, who conceded the US presidency to Barack Obama in 2008.

The politician has kept a low profile in the years since he left the White House. Now that they are grandparents, he and wife Laura will be even more focused on family life.
