The Black Sabbath rocker, in a message on his Facebook page, revealed he had been in a new battle with substance abuse over the last year and a half.
But
he insisted he had been sober again since March and rejected speculation that
his 30-year marriage to Sharon was over amid claims they were living apart.
Osbourne,
64, said: "For the last year and a half I have been drinking and taking
drugs.

"I
was in a very dark place and was an a****** to the people I love most, my
family. However, I am happy to say that I am now 44 days sober.
"Just
to set the record straight, Sharon and I are not divorcing. I’m just trying to
be a better person.

"I
would like to apologise to Sharon, my family, my friends and my band mates for
my insane behaviour during this period ... and my fans."
Within

Among
the messages of support was one from Cody Henderson, from Newcastle, Australia,
who wrote: "Proud of you, Ozzy."
Gloria
Holleman, who lives in Fort Wayne, Indiana, added: "It takes a lot of
courage to admit that to yourself and to your family, not to mention the world.
"So
many people never find that courage. Thank you for setting such a good example
to so many younger people."
Osbourne,
who is known to many of his fans as the "Prince of Darkness", has
three children with Sharon - Aimee, 29, Kelly, 28, and Jack, 27.
He
is due to tour with Black Sabbath later this year and is scheduled to play
seven gigs in the UK and Irish Republic.
