Fracas broke out after two
apparently drunk passengers turned on a "boombox" as Spirit Airlines
flight 141 from Baltimore landed at its destination in Los Angeles on
Wednesday.
Chaos erupted on a US
transcontinental flight as a group of women began brawling in an altercation
over loud music.
Footage captured on mobile
phone shows passengers pulling hair and at least one punch being thrown in the
free-for-all.
Others fliers asked the
women to turn the volume down, but they refused, according to reports.
Spirit Airlines spokesman
Paul Berry told the Los Angeles Times one of the women challenged the
complainers, saying: "What are you going to do?"
They began waving the
"boombox" in the air to taunt the other passengers, he added.
Flight attendants and
passengers were able to quickly break up the fight, witnesses said.
No one was seriously hurt.
Airport police and the FBI
also arrived on the scene.
The women were taken off
the plane.
Los Angeles airport officer
Rob Pedregon said the women were involved in a "mutual combat situation".
