The All Progressives
Congress has denied claims by the Peoples Democratic Party that it was planning
to arrest Senate president, Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, just
as it said both principal officers are not above the law.
The senior special
assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, on Monday,
August 13, said victories of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the recent
legislative elections in some states showed that Nigerians are more interested
in the business of governing than the crisis in the Senate.
Shehu, who spoke at an
interview with State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja also
said the victory recorded at the elections shows that President Muhammadu
Buhari will win the 2019 presidential election.
Shehu said: "These
election victories are clear messages to the National Assembly that all that
Nigerians are interested in is that the business of government should go on.
“Nigerians are saying that
they are not interested in the drama; they are not interested in the grammar,
the subterfuge and all of the games that are being played in the National
Assembly.
“I think it is appropriate
this time to appeal to the National Assembly to be on the same page with the
President Muhammadu Buhari administration so that we can deliver on all of
these things.
