Bricklayer Bags 6-Month Imprisonment For Burgling Oyo Government House

A thirty-five year-old bricklayer, Mr. Sunday Ajayi was on Monday sentenced to 6 months jail for and breaking into the apartment of the anti-bomb squad, located within the Oyo State Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, where he stole some items belonging to the security agents.
Ajayi, DAILY POST gathered was on July 31st, 2018 arraigned before a magistrate court sitting in Iwo Road, presided over by Mr.Taiwo Olaniran on a two-court charge of breaking and stealing with charge no: MI/331c/2018.

Police prosecutor, Mr.Sunday Ogunremi told the court that the suspect on 29th July, 2017 at about 12:30pm at the Government House, Agodi, GRA Ibadan, broke into the Government House staff room.

Ogunremi added that Ajayi on the same date, time and place in the aforementioned Magisterial District did steal one Wrist watch, four shirts, two trousers and EOD Binuocular, property of anti-bomb section of the Nigeria Police Force, valued at N 535,000.00.

He said that the offence committed was contrary to and punishable under Section 411 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol.II laws of Oyo state of Nigeria, 2000.

The suspect, however, pleaded guilty and begged the court to temper justice with mercy, saying it was work of the devil.

Olaniran while delivering his judgement on Monday then sentenced him to six months imprisonment without option of fine to serve as deterrent for others.
