Dino Melaye, Senator
representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, has reacted to call by the All
Progressives Congress, APC, that Bukola Saraki should resign as the Senate
President.
Saraki had recently
defected from the ruling APC to PDP.
Following his defection,
the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole said Saraki can’t runaway
with the party’s “crown.”
Reacting to Oshiomhole’s
remark, Melaye said APC had no crown in the National Assembly.
Addressing journalists in
Abuja, Melaye who is a frontline supporter of the Senate President, said
“Whatever is illegal will continue and remain illegal.”
The Senator said the APC
chairman forgot that crowns were worn in towns, villages, communities and kingdoms.
He said “nobody wears crown
at the National Assembly because the seat of the Senate President is not
hereditary.
“Nigerians should not also
forget that Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, won the seat through
democratic means.”
