According to
a press release, the comedian surprised the students during a United Negro
College Fund dinner.
Popular
comedian and actor, Kevin Hart has surprised 18 HBCU college students with
$600,000 worth of Scholarships at a dinner last night.
Kevin joined
forces with UNCF and KIPP Knowledge Is Power Program to present his $600,000
gift which went to deserving students based on their personal and academic
accomplishments.
The
scholarship recipients included KIPP students from 11 historically black
colleges and universities, including Morehouse College, Spelman College, Fisk
University, Dillard University and Xavier University.

“I am living
proof that if you put your mind to something you can not only achieve it, but
you can go above and beyond the expectations of what you thought that you could
do. After you open one door, the crazy thing is you find out that there are
seven more doors that you could open,” Hart said. “Education is that first door.

“This is the
opportunity of a lifetime breeze through it! When you get to that next
door…breeze through that. Success is what you want it to be,” he added. “At the
end of the day, we are what we want to be. Do not allow others to hold you
back.”
