Talk about rewarding
excellence, Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti is currently trending on social
media after the best graduating medical student was gifted with a brand new car
and over half a million naira.
It was a happy and surreal
moment for Esther Adaobi Azom who not only made her school proud but her family
and friends. She was awarded a brand new car worth N5.7m, courtesy of owner of
Cosharis Motors, Cosmos Maduka. She was also given the sum of N500k plus

Adaobi had distinctions at
every level, from her first year in the University to the final year. It was
disclosed that in her MBBS examinations, she had distinctions in the three
courses namely – medicine, surgery and community medicine.
Speaking at
Ado-Ekiti during the induction ceremony, the CMD revealed: “Three out of the 43
first set of Medical Doctors who have completed their training at ABUAD will
undergo their housemanship in UCH, Ibadan.”
The Founder and Chancellor
of ABUAD, Are Afe Babalola, SAN was filled with pride as he described the
unprecedented feat of the medical students as unique in many ways. He went on
to state that the accomplishments made ABUAD the first university in the
country to produce medical doctors in six-and-half years after the commencement
of its MBBS programme.
He said: "Apart from
scoring 100 percent in their first final medical examination, eight out of the
43 students that sat for the examination made distinctions – the equivalent of
first class in other disciplines."
This is coming after social
media was thrown into outrage as reports of the Best Graduating Student of Mass
