Phil Foden is said to be edging closer to signing a new contract with Manchester City, according to The Independent.
Foden’s current deal at Man City runs outs in July of 2020.
As per the report from The Independent, talks between City and Foden’s representatives are said to be progressing well as City look to tie the wonderkid down to a long-term deal.
Foden is also said to be attracting interest from German outfit, Borussia Dortmund.
Dortmund have already lured Jadon Sancho away from Manchester City back in 2017.
Given how well Sancho is doing now, City will be keen to ensure something similar does not happen with Foden.
Foden has made 10appearancess in all competitions this season for Man City, in which he has scored one and assisted two.
Pep Guardiola on Phil Foden
Back in September City boss Pep Guardiola was full of praise for Foden and hoped for him to have a long City future:
“He has the quality to stay here for 10 years because I think he wants to stay, I think the club wants him to.
“But step by step, he needs to play regularly, but I think he has all the skills to play with us.”
Foden is currently on international duty with England’s under-21 side.
West Ham vs Manchester City
When we return from the international break Manchester City will face a trip to West Ham.
City are currently top of the league having won 10 and drawn two of their 12 league games this season.
However, with Chelsea and Liverpool breathing down their neck, City need to beat West Ham to ensure they remain in top spot.
West Ham come into this game 13th in the table having drawn their last league game.
