APC Denies Disrupting Atiku’s Campaign In Kogi state

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it has no hand in the alleged disruption of the campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in favour of its presidential candidate in the 2019 election, Atiku Abubakar, in Kogi state.

Television Continental (TVC) reports that spokesperson of the APC, Lanre Issa-Onilu, made this position nown when he addressed journalists in Abuja.

He claimed that the leaders of the PDP failed the Kogi people by not completing the Abuja-Lokoja road while in power for 16 years adding that the APC administration plans to complete all abandoned projects it inherited.

Apart from this, the spokesperson said the Buhari administration is set to start new ones that will impact on the recovery of the country’s economy.

The report said the Kogi state government also dismissed the allegation that it disrupted the presidential campaign of the PDP in the state.

The director general, media and publicity to the governor of Kogi state, Kingsley Fanwo, described the allegation as a lie from the PDP to justify its failed rally.

“They first lied that we denied them of the use of our stadium until we made public a letter conveying the governor’s approval to use the stadium.

“The next on their Dubai-engineered list of lies is that we are planning to cause crisis to disrupt the rally. Again, we say it is another PDP style of covering up their known failings.

“As a government, we respect the person of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the office he held. We won’t use the kind of motor park language of the Presidential Campaign Council of the PDP in the state to describe their own presidential candidate,” he said in a statement.

Legit.ng earlier reported that the Kogi state presidential campaign council of the PDP raised an alarm over alleged plots to attack Atiku Abubakar in Lokoja. Atiku, the PDP's presidential candidate is billed for a rally in the state capital on Monday, January 7.

The campaign council fingered Governor Yahaya Bello and the APC in the alleged plot, in a statement sent to Legit.ng on Sunday, January 6, by its head of media and publicity, Usman Austin Okai.
