Sintayehu Legese from
Ethiopia has emerged winner of the Lagos city marathon held on Saturday,
February 2.
The Ethopia finished ahead
of favourite Joshua Kipkorir from Kenya to claim the grand prize of $50,000.
Sintayehu Legese finished
with a time of 2:17:20. Joshua Kipkorir came second as he finished 55 seconds
later than the winner.
It was a clean sweep for
the East African nations as Kenya's Joshua K finished in second place to go
home $40,000 while another Kenyan went home with $30,000.
Meanwhile, Gideon became
the first Nigerian to cross the finish line and he will go home with N3million.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported
that Kenya’s Abraham Kiptum emerged winner of last year's Lagos City Marathon
and went home with the cash prize of $50,000.
Kiptum won the 42.1km race
for the second time after he won the maiden edition in a time of 2 hours, 16
minutes, 21 seconds.
