On Friday, March 8, 2019, a
5-man panel at the Supreme Court of Nigeria, supported an order given by the
Federal High Court in Lagos, about a temporary seizure of $8.4 million
connected to the former First Lady of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan.
Punch News confirmed a
verdict given by Justice Kumai Aka’ahs who thinks Jonathan has work to do to
convince the high court not to pursue a permanent forfeiture of the amount
despite an appeal she made.
"I do not find any
reason to interfere with the decision of the lower court.
"Appellant is to go
back to the trial court (the Federal High Court) to show cause why the interim
order should not be made permanent," the Justice said in a court statement
that contained the lead judgement on the matter.
