1 Killed, 6 Vehicles Destroyed As Kona, Fulani Clash

At least 1 person was reported killed while 6 Vehicles were destroyed in Jalingo Taraba state capital on Sunday following an attack by suspected headsmen at Joro Yino, ward in Ardo-Kola a mix local government with Jalingo Taraba state capital.
The chairman Ardo Kola local government council Salihu Dovo who spoke to LEADERSHIP confirm the incident while accessing the affected areas of the attack.

Dovo said 3 persons were killed at Tudiri village, 6 vehicles were destroyed within the area while several others were in hospitals following the attacks.

The local government boss was conducting security agents round the affected areas at the time of the report, he also told LEADERSHIP that the affected areas have been restored to normalcy.

He said the attack was carry out by suspected headers, the chairman lamented that hundreds of the villagers were freeing the area for fear of further attacks, he further revealed that the displaced persons were taking refuge at Nukai Primary school inside Jalingo.

The affected villages are located at ATC, the Taraba state university hub.

An eye witness Mr. Elisha Kungana who spoke with LEADERSHIP at Kasuwan Mbera, the area that was destroyed by the attackers said he watch the people who attacked the area using sophisticated guns while riding on motorcycle.

“We came into my house from the market me and my wife, we head gun shorts outside, my wife rushed out and from there I heard her shouting that I should come out, when I rushed out, I discovered about 9 motorcycle carrying people with heavy guns shooting sporadically.

“I saw them, they are the headers that have been fighting with the Kona people, the man in the front with a different motorcycle was someone who knows the area very well, he was directing them on the houses to burn down.

“They were burning houses and shooting, people were running away, though I can’t tell if someone got bullets wounds or killed in the process, but several houses were bunt.
