The Lagos state government
on Sunday declared a state of emergency on various dilapidated highways and
carriages within the state.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu
on Sunday ordered the massive construction work on critical roads across the
state beginning from Monday 14th October, 2019.
Some of the listed critical
highways and roads to be constructed include Ojota stretch of Ikorodu road,
Motorways-Kudirat Abiola Way, Apogbon Highway, Ijede Road and Agric/Ishawo Road
in Ikorodu, Lekki-Epe expressway from Abraham Adesanya to Eleko junction and
not forgetting network roads in Ikoyi,Ikeja GRA and Victoria Island.
The governor who had been
in a series of meetings with eight engineering firms said they had been given
the mandate to immediately mobilise their equipment on the sites and commence
major construction works on the identified roads..

The Governor said he was
aware of the pains Lagosians were experiencing in the past few days which was
compounded by heavy rainfall. He appealed to Lagosians to bear with the
government while efforts were being made to bring permanent relief to them.
