The Women at Risk
International Foundation, a non-profit organization established to address
prevalence and issues of rape, sexual violence and sex trafficking in Nigeria
has announced that it will be embarking on a walk in celebration of the UN 16
Days of Activism for Gender Based Violence
The campaign saw
celebrities like Richard Mofe Damijo, Rita Dominic, Kate Henshaw, Funke
Akindele, Dakore Akande, Ego Boyo and many more stand with WARIF to say No
Tolerance to sexual abuse and violence with a show of commitment by posting
short videos and pictures on their various social media platforms.
Set to hold on the 30th of
November 2019 at 7am, the walk which will span the Lekki/Ikoyi link bridge,
will kick off from Road Chef Drive-Thru in Lekki Phase 1. Speaking on the reason
behind the march, founder of WARIF – Dr. Kemi DaSilva Ibru has stated that “At
WARIF, we believe that no single individual, organization, foundation, or
government can stop the epidemic of sexual violence; but by responding to the
responsibility of tackling the problem as a collective, we each bring together
our unique piece of the solution.
We believe that
participation in these collaborative efforts are critical in making our voices
heard and to bringing an end to sexual violence in our society.”
Registration has commenced
for the march and all men, women and children are encouraged to sign up with a
fee of 5000 naira. Registration can be done via
https://warifng.org/event/the-no-tolerance-march/
Proceeds from the march
will benefit survivors of rape and sexual violence who are offered assistance
at the WARIF Centre, the foundation’s rape crisis center which provides
immediate medical care, psychosocial counselling, legal aid, access to shelters
and vocational skills training all free of charge.
Sexual violence touches all
of our lives and the “No Tolerance” March is the chance to say NO! to rape,
sexual violence, child sexual abuse, trafficking and other harmful practices in
our communities. March with us as we speak out against sexual violence and
rape. Let's make our voices and stories known!

as well as providing preventive measures in education and community service to
