"As a Muslim women if you cannot accept your husband having 2nd, 3rd or 4th wife start telling yourself some hard truths" - Sugabelly

Nigerian feminist, Sugabelly has mocked Muslim women who get married to a man and expect to be his only wife when their religion recommends four.

Sugabelly stated this in reaction to the High Court judgement which sentenced Maryam Sanda to death for killing her husband.

Maryam Sanda stabbed her husband Bilyaminu Bello to death after finding a text message on his phone that hinted at infidelity.

Reacting to the news, Sugabelly took to Twitter to lay her mind bare on Muslim women.

She tweeted: “Just like Maryam Sanda, majority of you desperately want to be the only wife. Majority of you desperately want rights that are not afforded you by Islam yet you keep clinging to and defending a religion you claim to believe in yet your actions show you are unhappy with”.

She added: “If you know you are unhappy with your lot in life as a Muslim woman vis a vis Muslim men. If you know you are pretending you can accept your husband having a second, third, or fourth wife Then you had better start telling yourself some hard truths about this religion you follow”.
