Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun has paid a visit to Sabo Market in Sagamu which was on Tuesday morning raised by fire.
The governor visited the site after returning from a working visit to the UK.
Sharing pictures from the site, Dapo Abiodun wrote on Social Media:

“I am saddened by the news of last night’s fire that broke out in Sabo Market, Sagamu, razing shops and property. I sympathise with everyone affected.

I had just returned from my UK working trip, when I got a call in the middle of the night about the incident and I immediately contacted emergency responders, believing the situation could still be salvaged.

I have just left the scene this morning, when I had a quick and personal assessment of the situation. As a matter of priority, I will be working with the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and market leaders on conducting a detailed assessment of the incident, so that we can know where to come in with the necessary assistance that would alleviate the losses.

While we have yet to identify the cause of the fire, I urge everyone to understand the peculiarities of the current season and act accordingly, putting safety measures in place for such fire emergencies as well as turning off appliances when not in use.

I appreciate the Paramount Ruler of Remo land, HRH, Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, Torungbunwa II; his counterpart from Epe and the firefighters from Abeokuta, Ijebu-Ode and Babcock University for their quick and genuine responses and intervention”.
