Mass
Communication degree in Nigerian universities has been phased by the National
Universities Commission (NUC).
The NUC
Executive Secretary, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, while speaking with journalists in
Abuja on Thursday, said the NUC had unbundled Mass Communication into seven
separate degree programmes to meet current demands and that it would take
effect from the 2020 university admission year.
He stated,
“The seven new programmes/departments to be domiciled in a Faculty/
School/College of Communication and Media Studies are Journalism and Media
Studies, Public Relations, Advertising, Broadcasting, Film and Multi-Media
Studies, Development Communication Studies, Information and Media Studies.”
