A staff of JAMB, who
confirmed the abduction, said that the victims, were from the head office in
Abuja, to conduct the mock UTME exams in one of the centres.
The abductors of six Joint
Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) staff kidnapped in
Kogi State have
made contact with the examination body to demand N50m as ransom, just as the
police claimed they have rescued one of the people kidnapped.
The six staff were
kidnapped on Kabba – Lokoja road on Sunday.
The state police command
spokesman, DSP William Aya, said the rescued man was seen inside the bush where
he was abandoned by the abductors. He is lying unconscious in hospital.
He said that the kidnapping
was first reported as robbery to the police which immediately embarked on a hot
chase of the gunmen and the victims.
Aya said it was in the
process that the abandoned victim who claimed to be JAMB staff was found in the
late hours of Sunday
He said that another ID
card of a JAMB female staff was also recovered from the bush.
The police spokesman said
the man rescued was still in hospital receiving treatment.
Aya said the police had not
been able to obtain any information from him.
Aya said that the private
car in which the victims were travelling has been retrieved, adding that police
were intensifying efforts to rescue the remaining people unhurt.
