Ibinabo had
some-time ago defended fellow actress, 22-year-old Regina Daniels who has been
under blast since getting married to 59-year-old Ned Nwoko.
Nollywood
actress and former president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima
has revealed the main reason people label her as the stubborn one and a rebel.
According to
the mother 4 and ex-beauty queen, she was never ready to blend in from onset
because she was born to stand out.
Ibinabo added
via her Instagram post that her outspokenness got her the nickname and more.
“YOᑌ ᑕᗩᑎ’T
ᗷᒪEᑎᗪ Iᑎ ᗯᕼEᑎ YOᑌ’ᖇE
ᗷOᖇᑎ TO ᔕTᗩᑎᗪ
OᑌT ⠀⠀
I’ve always
been different. It’s something I struggled with, but eventually learned to
really love about myself. Being outspoken often labeled me as the “stubborn
one”, but it always felt better than being like everyone else…⠀⠀
One of the
greatest regrets in life is being what others would want you to be, rather than
being yourself. I remember trying to fit in and 𝗛𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗜𝗧 𝗦𝗢 𝗠𝗨𝗖𝗛! It felt fake and boring so I nipped
that in the bud QUICK! The majority may not like you for standing out, but the
few that do will absolutely love you for it. It’s a risk, but one I don’t mind
taking for being true to myself. Anyone else a “rebel” like me? 👀” she
wrote on Instagram.
In defense of
Daniels, Fiberesima slammed Nigerians for being hypocrites and also called them
out for their unusual interest in the said marriage.
While
defending Daniels as a hardworking young woman who has achieved celebrity
status for herself, Fiberesima also wonders why a young adult girl’s marriage
to a man she loves and has pledged to spend her life with has suddenly become a
potent topic of national discourse.
