An embroider who worked on Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle's wedding dresses is reportedly on the brink of homelessness after getting no government support.
Chloe Savage,
who has also worked on costumes for the Harry Potter franchise, said she has
received no financial help during the pandemic.
The
43-year-old told the Sunday Times that she has had to lay off apprentices and
close her workshop after work dried up due to Covid-19.
She told the
newspaper: “My daughter has started avoiding eating lunch and supper because
she thinks it will save me money on the food bill."
Ms Savage
said she is struggling to feed her two children after her Universal Credit
application was rejected four times.
The
government has come under fire over the lack of support for self-employed
people.
As her
business - Chloe Savage Embroidery - is not making any money, she has not been
able to draw a salary, and now says she can only afford one more month of rent.
