On the 4th of May 2018, Jang and Pam were arraigned before a Jos High Court on a 17-count charge bordering on alleged corruption and misappropriation of N6.3 billion belonging to the state by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According
to report, Jos High Court has discharged and acquitted a former Governor of
Plateau State, Sen. Jonah Jang, of alleged misappropriation of the sum of N6.3
billion belonging to the state.
Also discharged is a former cashier
in the office of the Secretary to the Plateau State Government, Mr. Yusuf Pam.
Justice Christy Dabup, who delivered the judgement, discharged and acquitted the first defendant (Jang) of the 17 counts charge of the criminal misappropriation of state funds.
“The second defendant (Pam) has also been discharged and acquitted of the allegations meted against him,” Justice Dabup said.
Dabup also said the prosecution lacked evidence to prove the allegations of embezzlement and misappropriation of the N2 billion MSMEs funds and N4.3 billion SUBEB fund.
Reacting to the judgement, Counsel to the defendants, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), said, “the court found Sen. Jonah David Jang innocent of all the 17 count charges labelled against him by the EFCC.
“Why was this man being prosecuted?
“But today justice has been
delivered, justice has been served and the innocent have been vindicated.”
