Niece of Billionaire Lakshmi Mittal Tied The Knot In Lavish Ceremony

The niece of billionaire Lakshmi Mittal has tied the knot in a lavish ceremony that reportedly cost £50million.
The bride Shristi Mittal, 26, and her investment banker groom Gulraj Behl, 36, invited guests to Barcelona, Spain to spend three days celebrating their nuptials.

Shristi wowed the 500-strong crowd of family and friends as she arrived at her wedding donning a traditional red and gold gown. Her hair was beautifully swept back into a classic, elegant up-do, leaving all attention to her extravagant jewellery and headpiece, and intricate henna tattoos.

The groom made an equally dramatic entrance, riding in on horseback to the National Museum of Catalan Art, located at the top of a hill.

As guests made their way into the wedding venue, they were greeted by immaculately dressed butlers serving champagne. Chefs had reportedly been flown in from India and Thailand to cater the meal. The sumptuous dinner was finished off with slices from the six-tiered wedding cake, which weighed an approximate 60kilograms.

Guests then stepped outside to watch the romantic firworks display over the city.

While the wedding took place on the third day of the celebration friends and family had time to sightsee around Barcelona beforehand. Guests visited the Magic Fountain, located in front of the majestic National Museum of Catalan Art, and enjoyed a spectacular water display set against the Chariots of Fire theme tune.

On the day of the wedding, the museum was shut to the public and some roads were temporarily closed off.

Jordi Marto, a leader of the Socialist Party in Barcelona, told The Sunday Times that the city's officials were fascinated with the "smell of money."

The mayor of Barcelona, Xavier Trias, who attended the wedding, defended the event saying it was crucial to boosting the Spanish economy. Reports in Spain claimed that some guests had spent more than £20,000 shopping in Barcelona's most luxurious stores and staying in the city's top hotels.

This is not the first time steel tycoon Lakshmi and the Mittal family have spent millions on their family weddings.

When the metal magnate's daughter Vanisha got married in 2004, the family invested £40million in her Paris wedding that had Kylie Minogue performing and entertaining for their guests.
