Bob Geldof has proposed to his partner of 18 years, Jeanne Marine.
The Live Aid founder has been in a long-term relationship with the French actress and friend of the couple, model Jerry Hall, confirmed he popped the question.
The star – who used to be married to Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger - admitted that the bride-to-be is overjoyed with the offer of marriage and she couldn’t help but spill the news on their behalf.
“Bob has proposed,” Jerry told the Daily Mail. “She is over the moon. Jeanne Marine has been a rock and a tower of strength over this. I’m so excited for her I am bursting to tell someone. “Bob and Jeanne have been through hell, but they are determined something positive will come out of it. After all the sadness, we need something to focus on which will bring joy and light.”
It comes as the inquest to 62-year-old Bob’s late daughter Peaches Geldof is due to take place today. Reports suggest they will announce she died of a heroin overdose last month. Her funeral took place in Davington, Kent, last week and Jerry attended with Jeanne, 49.
