Tunde Kelani has done it again “Dazzling Mirage”

Excellent filmmaker, Tunde Kelani, has expressed his desire for the theatre goers to see his new feature film, Dazzling Mirage, first as a love story than an advocacy film.
Dazzling Mirage is an adaptation of a novel of the same name by Olayinka Abimbola Egbokhare. The film tells the story of a talented, beautiful young sickle-cell sufferer who overcomes social stigma, prejudice, and her own low self-esteem, to achieve success, marriage and motherhood.

Critics, however, described Dazzling Mirage as an advocacy film because of the social relevance of its subject matter. But speaking with HVP in Calabar recently, the award-winning filmmaker said, “I would like people to see the film as a love story first before any other thing. In fact, an entertaining love story at that.”
According to Mr Kelani, he was excited by the reception accorded to the film both in Lagos, and at the just concluded AFRIFF, where it was screened to a large audience.“
This is because people seem to enjoy the film, and I am happy they enjoy it because it is a love story which is well-written and interpreted by the actors. Lala Kemi Akindoju and Kunle Afolayan are the most important characters in the film. They seemed to have rediscovered their creativity. They apparently brought the film to life.” The film, which premiered early this month in Lagos, starred the likes of fast rising actor, Kemi lala Akindoju, movie maker and actor, Kunle Afolayan, Seun Akindele Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett, Bimbo Manuel, Khabirat Kafidipe, Bukola.
