Llamas, a domesticated pack of animal of the camel family valued for its soft woolly fleece caused a stir on the streets around a retirement complex in Arizona before being captured and returned to their owners.
A large, white llama and a smaller black llama darted through the streets of Sun City, near Phoenix.
It took an hour to capture the animals, who were running amok through traffic-filled roads and people's gardens.
They were finally roped into custody using lassos.
The runaway llamas were part of a trio that had been making a therapy visit to residents at an assisted living facility.
"One of the old
gentlemen wanted to hold her (the white llama) and she broke loose from him and
the chase was on," said Bob Bullis, the owner of the white llama.
The llamas' televised
breakout became a social media hit, sparking several Twitter hashtags.
