The Police at
Ketu area of Lagos busted by a member of a three-man armed robbery gang due to
allegation that he forced his lover to abort a three-month pregnancy because he
did not want her to give birth to an armed robber like him.
Musliyu
Ahmed, 23, who was arrested in Ketu, said: “I had to force her to go for an
abortion because I do not want her to give birth to a child, who will have the
blood of an armed robber. And because she understands the nature of my job, she
had to obey.
“I want to
get married and start having kids after I quit armed robbery.”
The other two
members of the gang, Mutiu Rasheed, 22, and Sadiq Dada, 21 were arrested in
Ijebu-Ode and Lagos, respectively.
Vanguard
gathered that Lagos State Police Command received a tip-off that one Ahmed
Musliyu, a notorious armed robber, had four locally-made guns, which he kept in
his house around railway line at Bolade, Oshodi.
After Ahmed was arrested, the detectives
discovered that the four guns were no longer with him as he had allegedly
handed the guns over to Mutiu Rasheed who lives at Ketu.
Before police
got to Ketu, Mutiu got wind of Ahmed’s arrest and that detectives were on his
trail. So he fled to Kara, along Berger Isheri area where he carried out
robbery operations with one Sadiq Dada.
It was
learned that when the detectives got to Kara, they laid ambush in the
neighbourhood for three days. Unfortunately, Mutiu escaped but Dada a member of
the gang, was apprehended.
During
preliminary interrogation, Dada revealed that Mutiu had fled to Ijebu-Ode with
other gang members.
The police
moved from Lagos to Ijebu-Ode, where they laid ambush and arrested Mutiu on the
second day of the manhunt.
Mutiu
reportedly led the officers to Ijebu-Igbo, where they recovered two
locally-made guns and six cartridges.
Vanguard
learned that the gang had successfully carried out different robbery operations
in Lagos and Ijebu-ode.
Some of the
vehicles they stole include a Toyota Highlan-der, Camry and Sienna.
