Family Car Plunges Into Deep Water 2nd Boy Died

Another boy died after his family's car plunged into 30ft of water at Los Angeles harbour.
The eight-year-old died in hospital on Friday afternoon, authorities told City News Service.

Neither the boy nor his 13-year-old brother were breathing when rescue divers pulled them from the submerged vehicle on Thursday.

The older brother was pronounced dead at hospital several hours after the incident.

Witnesses heard the boys' parents screaming after they managed to swim to the surface.

"A mother and a father were like, 'Help us! Help us! My kids are sinking! They’re drowning!'" Roger Velasu told CBS Los Angeles.

Their vehicle plunged off the road at Berth 73 after the family left a carpark in the Ports O' Call entertainment district in San Pedro.

Around 100 firefighters, divers and helicopter and boat crews were involved in the emergency response.

Police said the plunge was being investigated as an accident.
