Yet the high-profile presidential
candidate in the 2016 White House race, Hillary Clinton went unnoticed as she
stopped for a burrito at a Chipotle restaurant.
The New York Times said Mrs
Clinton, who is travelling by van to Iowa, stopped on the way in the Toledo
suburb of Maumee, Ohio, and went to the restaurant counter to order a chicken
burrito bowl.
She was wearing sunglasses
and apparently nobody took notice of her in the restaurant.
It was only when a New York
Times reporter, tipped about the stop, called the restaurant that the manager
and the employees realised the former First Lady had been there, the newspaper
said.
They released CCTV images
that show Mrs Clinton, wearing a red shirt and accompanied by her campaign
manager Huma Abedin.
"The thing is, she has
these dark sunglasses on," Chipotle manager Charles Wright told the
newspaper.
"She just was another
lady."
Mrs Clinton said as she
launched her second bid for a Democratic nomination on Sunday that she wants to
be a champion of "everyday Americans".
During the campaign she
will try to present a humble image, counter the notion that she is out of touch
with ordinary Americans and drum up support.
