Nigerians Reacts To First Female Governor

Senator Aisha Jummai Al-Hassan
Once again congratulation to the first female governor, what a man can do a woman can do better if given the OPPORTUNITY, Lol! The Taraba state governorship election was one of the most difficult result to predict.
Unlike in many other states, it was not evident who would emerge winner of the polls. Analysts had predicted that the competition would be quite tough between the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress.

But more interestingly, it was the first time in the history of the country that a woman, Aisha Al-Hassan of the APC, had the chance to emerge the governor.

On April 13, Monday, the Independent National Electoral Commission declared the April 11 polls in the state inconclusive, because the total number of votes rejected and cancelled were more than the total vote with which the PDP’s Darius Ishaku led Al-Hassan of the APC.

The PDP polled 317,198 votes, while the APC received 262,386. PDP loyalists were disappointed with the INEC announcement of the cancellation, while APC supporters received new hope.

See how Nigerians reacted to the development.

While some backed Mrs Al-Hassan, others shared quite angry comments insisting there was no place for a woman in Nigerian politics.

Nigerians express their opinions on the issue:

Oladele Odeyemi: “Am not too sure that a deep northern state will be ready for a woman governor now. She can be schemed out.”

Mike Terry Inegbese: “We hoping for first female governor…”

Mohammed Musa: “Hope she wins and be an eye open to other women contendants. Gender equality is paramount in democracy and democratization process especially in Nigeria Politics.”

Goddish A Bank: “You people should not be deceived woman can’t win…after counting them will tell you stories…mama go cook for your husband…you are a helper to man.”

Twitter users also did not remain indifferent to the matter:

  1. Could media online community & all who value equity & fairness rally around in 2 make sure she isnt cheated
@hanneymusawa I strongly believe is being cheated bcos of her gender

Taraba let's conclusively make history with Aisha Alhassan.

Injustice against one woman is injustice against an entire nation.

So many people in Taraba want Aisha Alhassan, not because she's a woman but because they believe she'll do be able to do well for them
