Woman Died From Buttocks Injected Silicone In Basement

Thirty-four years old Kelly Mayhew, started gurgling and struggling to breathe after being injected with silicone.
She has died after receiving unlicensed buttock injections in a basement in New York, police have said.
The woman who carried out the procedure then grabbed her keys, ran out of the house, and drove off, according to a report in the New York Daily News.

The victim had travelled from Maryland to Queens with her mother who attempted to perform CPR, but she died later in hospital.
Ms Mayhew worked as a freelancer for Viacom-owned BET Networks, which runs television channels aimed at African American audiences.

BET spokesman Jamie Owens said: "Our heart goes out to her family and we extend our deepest sympathies for their loss."

Ms Mayhew's mother told police that her daughter was healthy and had five previous buttock enhancements.

The latest procedure was reportedly organised by a family friend. Detectives are hunting for the suspect.

A post-mortem examination was inconclusive, and the city medical examiner's office said additional studies would be carried out.

The owner of the three-storey home where the procedure took place said the tenant who was living there was going through a "financial hardship".
