Man Lost Life After Consuming 20 Sachets Of Gin

A middle aged man called Chucks had passed away after drinking 20 sachets of gin.

Chucks who lived along Ngwa Road area, Abia state was said to have engaged in a bet to consume the gin. He subsequently won the bet after successfully consuming 20 sachets of the drink but ultimately lost his life.

The deceased who was a barber had as usual gone to a local shop to buy gin. He was said to have boasted that he could consume 20 sachets but the shop owner disagreed and a N500 bet was placed by the two.

Itt wa reported by onlookers that Chucks downed the drinks and walked away with the money.

He however left his shop early after complaining about pain in his stomach. He told his wife he just needed rest but his situation deteriorated and he passed away from complications suspected to have been caused by the large quantity of alcohol he had consumed in a very short time.

Meanwhile, police men from Orile division have swooped on sellers of local gin following the death of an unidentified man suspected to have died of the local substance.
