Multiple Explosions Rips Through Maiduguri

Official are yet to ascertain the number of casualties as multiple explosions rocked Maiduguri On Sunday, September 20 2015.
The Nation reports that Colonel Sani Usman, the spokesman of the Nigerian army, confirmed that there were three improvised explosive devices explosions at Gomari and Ajilari general area in Maiduguri. 

Colonel Usman noted that the recent attacks signify high level of desperation on the part of the Boko Haram terrorists. 

“Security personnel and emergency management teams have been drafted to the area and appropriate security measures being taken. 

“We would like to state that the Nigerian military would not be deterred in its determined efforts of defeating Boko Haram terrorists in the shortest possible time.

“We would like to assure the public also that now the terrorists have shown their ugly presence in such areas, there is need for more vigilance, security consciousness and prompt reporting of suspicious persons or group of persons in their midst. This would enable the security take appropriate measures against them.

“It will be recalled that their previous attempts to attack and blow up Allau dam was thwarted,” he said.

Meanwhile, Boko Haram released another message, in which it denied claims by the Nigerian army of recording successes in the war against insurgency. 

“They (the military) lied that they have confiscated our arms, that we have been chased out of our territories that we are in disarray. 

“We are alive, I am alive, this is my voice, more audible than it was before. This is Shekau,” Boko Haram leader said.
Although Shekau stressed in his message that Boko Haram was still at battle ground, some members of the terrorist group surrendered themselves to troops of 21 Brigade of the Nigerian army.
