

Prince Ademola Adeyemo the deputy
political editor of ThisDay newspaper passed away at fifty-eight years old.
The former deputy Political
Editor of Thisday Newspaper, Prince Ademola Adeyemo, who died on Sunday,
January 24, 2016, has been laid to rest.
According to his wife,
Mujidat Adewumi, the amiable journalist died of heart attack after complaining
of stress occasioned by a journey he undertook to Iroko on Sunday. He was said
to have driven to Iroko near Fiditi, a suburb of Oyo town where he had gone to
assist the wife of his deceased younger brother pack her property to a location
close to Olodo in Ibadan.
Adeyemo joined ThisDay in
January, 1996 as Oyo State Correspondent. He graduated from the Polytechnic
Ibadan with the Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication in 1986 and
obtained a Master’s degree in Personnel Psychology from the University of Ibadan

Before joining ThisDay, the
late Adeyemo had worked with the Nigerian Television Authority, Ibadan (1982 –
1983) and The Guardian Newspaper (1982-1994) as Oyo State Correspondent
In a condolence message, by
the Oyo State Governor, Abiola Ajimobi, the Governor said he received the news
of the death of the veteran journalist with shock and disbelief. He said Adeyemo
was a dedicated and hard-working man.
“He was a shinning star in
the noble journalism profession. He was committed to the job, which has taken
him to several state capitals, including Ibadan, his birth place. He was a
positive influence for upcoming journalists,” Ajimobi said.
