Disappointed Lupita Stand For Change In Recognition Of Oscar Diversity

Not only Edris Elba, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Oyelowo and others voiced their opinion over the lack of diversity in the 2015 Oscar award.
Lupita Nyong’o who won is also an Academy Award winner for her role in “12 Years of Slave” acted back in 2014 express her opinion on her Instagram account.

She wrote “I am disappointed by the lack of inclusion in this year’s Academy Awards nominations. It has me thinking about unconscious prejudice and what merits prestige in our culture. The Awards should not dictate the terms of art in our modern society, but rather be a diverse reflection of the best of what our art has to offer today. I stand with my peers who are calling for change in expanding the stories that are told and recognition of the people who tell them.”

Lupita also included a quote from James Baldwin: “Not everything that is faced can be changed. But nothing can be changed until it is faced.”
