Anosike, who
announced his resignation from the PDP, said the party has a long way to
redemption because in his native Anambra State for example, the party has been
reduced to a family business with siblings determining what happens in the
party.
Senator Emmanuel Anosike
has said the revelation about financial impropriety associated with the
President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration, is simply a reflection of his
lack of capacity.
Anosike who represented
Anambra North in the 4th National Assembly (1999-2003), said this in an interview
in Abuja, on Monday.
He was reacting to the
on-going investigations into disbursements of $2.1bn meant for counter
insurgency operations for campaign and sundry unrelated purposes.
The former lawmaker said
while it is true that the President was betrayed, “what happened also has to do
with his lack of capacity.
“He was not in control. At
a point we had more than four Presidents, at a point we didn’t know who the
main President was.
“All the names you are
hearing now had some form of control, those of us who were in the party felt
very disappointed that people who knew next to nothing about politicking were
the people calling the shots.
“The kind of money that we
are hearing that were given to people for doing nothing for not knowing what is
supposed to be done, you see domestic staff in control, you see chief security
officers who should be concerned with issues of security dabbling into
electoral matters- people who know next to nothing about polling booths.”
According to him, the
President entrusted novices with tasks they neither had the experience nor
commitment to handle.
He explained that no
Nigerian who would hear the amount of money and people involved and not get
angry.
Anosike alleged that
ex-President Olusegun Obansanjo cannot absolve himself of blame for the crisis
rocking the Peoples Democratic Party.
The politician noted that
the former President’s decision to handover the party structure to state
governors laid the foundation for the chaos the party is facing today.
He said, “Governors now
became sole administrators, governors now became demigods in their states;
governors determine who becomes councilor; local government chairmen; those who
go to the National Assembly and the governor determines who will replace him.
“The governors determine
who handles any position of responsibility in the state and at the federal
level. With that, other party members began to live at the mercy of governors.”
He further explained that
the same scenario is playing out today noting that these governors have today
constituted themselves into a cabal which has foisted Ali Modu Sheriff on the
party without recourse to founding members of the party.

Jonathan's administration is the roots to Buhari slowness in the present administration, left with the economy broken.
