The Christian Association
of Nigeria (CAN) has disclosed that the association will vehemently resist all
forms of oppressive policies against the Christian faith and Nigerians at
large.
The president of CAN, Rev.
Samson Ayokunle disclosed this during the interdenominational service of songs
and tribute in honour of late Rev. Musa Asake, the secretary general of CAN,
yesterday.
Ayokunle decried that
Nigeria is bedeviled with myriads of problems and decried that the church that
ought to represent heaven and put things in order needs to be put in order
first.
According to him, “We will
vehemently resist anything that will lead to religious persecution in Nigeria.
We shall do what we are called to do and do it well.
“The Christian Association
of Nigeria will oppose anything that is oppressive to the Christian faith and
Nigerians at large.
“So many things are wrong
in the country. The wave of violence in the country presently is unprecedented
and it needs to stop.”
In his sermon, Old Time
Revival Hour, Bro Mathew Owojaiye said Nigerians are facing a hostile
environment nay a hostile government.
“Christian in the middle
belt and in the North East are being battered, villages and farms are ransacked
and burnt down, children, women are brutally murdered,” he said.
He decried that Nigeria
belongs to several Islamic organisations while appointments, developmental
projects and government policies are skewed to favour Muslims.
“Either the government does
not have the political will to stop it or the murderers are the agents of
government.
“Nigeria is bedeviled with
myriads of problems. The church that is supposed to represent heaven and put
things in order needs to be put in order.
“It is either our Christian
politicians who should protect our interest have been compromised or too afraid
to speak.”
