The deputy factional chairman of the APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Samari, at a press conference in Ilorin, assured President Buhari and the APC national leadership not to lose sleep over the defection plans of Senator Saraki and his supporters in the state.
A faction of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Kwara state led by Bashir Bolarinwa on Monday, July 23, declared that it has confidence of winning the 2019 general elections with or without Senate President Bukola Saraki, Daily Trust reports.

The party also kicked against reported plan to give automatic ticks to serving senators, House of Representatives members and others by the APC as demanded by “overambitious politicians.”

The crisis rocking the APC in Kwara state took another dimension as a faction has filed a suit against the group loyal to Senate president Bukola Saraki.
The faction, believed to be peopled by loyalists of the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, is challenging Saraki-led group over the outcome of Saturday, May 19, congresses in the state.
The two groups held parallel congresses in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, on Saturday, May 19.

The suit dated May 21, the prosecutors prayed a state high court for an order restraining the APC, its national chairman, John Oyegun, and Mai-Mala Buni, from recognising or acting through Ishola Fulani as the new party chairman in the state.

In a related development, the APC in Kwara state congratulated the newly-elected party executive members in the 193 wards of the state.

The party's publicity secretary, Alhaji Sulyman Buhari, the party urged the new party officials to immediate settle down and face the onerous task of mobilising voters for the 2019 general elections.

Part of the statement read: “Today, democracy was celebrated across the 193 wards of Kwara state. The leadership of APC in Kwara state is satisfied with the fact that Kwara APC remains a benchmark for inclusive and participatory democracy in Nigeria.“
