A young man has been
reportedly tortured to death by policemen in Delta state.
According to information by
Nigerian activist, Prince Emefiele Harrison, the victim identified simply as
Ifunanya was tortured to death by policemen from B Division Warri, Delta State,
after he was accused of being a ”Yahoo Yahoo” boy.

Facebook wall, Harrison wrote:

ONE MINUTE SILENCE FOR
IFUNANYA, VICTIM OF NIGERIA POLICE TORTURE, DELTA STATE POLICE COMMAND.
Ifunanya, a young promising
Nigerian tortured to death by Nigeria police officers attached to B Division
Warri Delta State.
Ifunanya was still at
asleep when officers attached to B Division broke into their apartment and
surrounded everyone in the house with guns 🔫. Looking for what they call
YAHOO YAHOO BOYS.
They searched the house,
found nothing and ordered Ifunanya and four others to enter their Hilux van....
At first, they thought it was a normal thing they experience everyday, police
breaking into people's house, arrest them and threaten them to pay before they
are released.
Police officers picking you
up walking on the street and force you to write statement.
But this time, the officers
from B Division Warri tortured Ifunanya to get information but he couldn't make
it like many Nigerians who passed away through that process.
Ifunanya fainted and was
rushed to General hospital and was confirmed Dead by the Doctor.
The police hurriedly
arraigned the other people arrested with Ifunanya and charged them for Armed
robbery.
This is no movie... The
picture shows Ifunanya, who is now lying dried in the mortuary.
The other people are
currently in Okere Prison Awaiting DPP advice for a crime they didn't commit.
For years, the police keep
acting with impunity and they always resort to torture and other forms of human
rights violation in dealing with civilians. Until the Nigeria Government take a
firm and decisive stand on violations of human rights, arbitrary arrest, the
unlawful killing of unarmed Nigerians by security personnel will never end.
