Three managing directors at
the Rivers state-owned broadcasting parastatals have been sacked by Governor
Nyesom Wike for failing to attend a meeting by the Broadcasting Organisation of
Nigeria (BON).
Channels TV reports that
the managing directors who lost their jobs were those at the Rivers State
Television, Radio Rivers and Garden City Radio.
Wike said the failure of
the managing directors of the state-owned broadcasting parastatals to honour
the meeting with the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria had caused him
embarrassment.
Meanwhile, the governor has
advised BON to always stand on the side of the people and speak the truth
concerning the issues in the country at all times.
In reply, John Momoh, the
chairman of BON said that the organisation will remain apolitical at all times.
He also urged the governor to invest in the state’s broadcasting outfits in
that regard
